          About Us

A Look Back
In March of 2001, five women, Kathie Cardon, Gisela Ferrell, Jackie McCann, Barbara Szymanski and Mary Lee Thompson met to establish an organization for the women of Magnolia Point. The group of five has grown to a group of over 200 women in just ten years.

Activities
We provide interesting monthly speakers, a book club, day trips and numerous opportunities for our members to use their talents by serving on one of our volunteer committees. Some of the social activities and programs we have had in the past include:

  • Attending community theatre performances
  • A day trip to a local herb garden
  • Luminaria Night events
  • Christmas Tea
  • Musical groups
  • Guest speakers presenting the history of GCS, Exploritus (formerly Elder Hostel), growing herbs and other speakers on gardening, travel, health and personal care
  • Day trip to Savannah
Our Hospitality team personally welcomes each new resident to Magnolia Point and shares community information with them. The women are provided with information regarding the Women’s Club and invited to attend our meetings. The Helping Hands Committee assists Magnolia Point member families in times of illness while the Sunshine Group sends cards and flowers to members and their families.

Each year members accrue many volunteer hours on various projects, conducting food drives for the Food Pantry, collecting donations for the Safe Animal Shelter, mentoring children, walking for breast cancer and diabetes. Through our Christmas Luminary Night event, the sale of directory ads and other fund raising activities we contributed to the following causes last year:

Breast Cancer Walk
Camp I Am Special
Charles E. Bennett Elementary School
Clay High School Scholarships
Clay County Literacy Coalition
Community Hospitce
